Unraveling

Ravelympics is a fiber event that coincides with the sports Olympics. The goal is to work through “events” that present something challenging for yourself. I have four events… completely some spindling that’s been on the spindle for a year, finishing a pair of socks in less than… uhm, months, crocheting a pound’s worth of charity squares, and unraveling this sweater. It was one of my first knitting projects, and I gave it to my mom. It’s too warm in NC for her to wear it much, so I asked to have it back to repurpose the yarn.

Knitting Projects - first sweater

Worked on this through the opening ceremonies. Egads, it’s more work to take a sweater apart than it is to put it together! I managed to disengage the arm and side seams, shoulder seams (both around the arm and from neck to shoulder), and reskein the lilac from the bottom edge… all with ONE snip – one yarn that I could not get disentangled to find a loose end. I am pretty happy; even with the one snip, I have not lost much yarn at all – just the few yards that were used to seam the sweater. The raw snip cost me maybe two yards at most. Not bad for a night’s work.
