Seriously? How old are these girls gonna get? I can hardly stand it. It’s a good thing I’m not aging as quickly as they are!
Rachel was asked to prom by her friend Kurt, who attends a local high school. She accepted, they went this past Friday, and she had a lot of fun!!! She’s tall and sleek, so it’s nice when she has a date who is taller than she is… even with the killer sandal heels she wore. Even with my boot shoe, I managed to hobble to the front porch for a couple of pictures.
Thankfully, they stopped by City Park for some real photos. It was such a lovely evening!
They had dinner at a local sushi restaurant, which happened to be full of prom kids. Rachel ran into her good friend Ginny there!
Rachel turns 17 in about three hours. I can hardly believe it. She’s a fresh-faced, honorable, steadfast, loyal young woman. She’s got a job (working at specialized data entry at Chris’ company), and she’s planning on starting at our community college in the fall. She’s artistic and thoughtful, and even though sometimes she might seem to take a back-seat to her outgoing and obviously talented sisters, Rachel is a hidden treasure. She makes things pretty. Whether it’s doing hair or nails, cutting flowers, decorating a cake, making a card, crocheting a teapot or amigurumi animal, assembling a dinner plate, or crafting earrings and other jewelry, her hands makes things beautiful with an air of thoughtfulness that I simply don’t have. I envy that. I’m excited to see what the coming year brings for her, as she begins to explore the world around her at the brink of adulthood.
